The Left Banke, Too
by Richie Unterberger Although Michael Brown wasn't the Left Banke, he was by far the group's biggest asset. On the second album, his departure left a mammoth hole that could not be filled (although he does appear on a few tracks). With Tom Finn and non-member Tom Feher taking over most of the compositional duties, the material was no match for the Michael Brown-penned classics. Although the group maintained their careful harmonies and mock Renaissance-production style, the results were way too innocuous and saccharine to carry the same weight as their previous recordings. All of the LP's tracks were reissued on the There's Gonna Be a Storm anthology.
