Como Dizia O Poeta...Musica Nova
by Alvaro Neder This historic album reuniting three great values of Brazilian music was recorded in Argentina in January 1971. Bringing some of Vinicius' biggest hits with several partners (Toquinho, Baden Powell, Tom Jobim), along with Gilberto Gil's "Viramundo" and a theme by Albinoni, the album shows singer Maria Bethânia interpreting his brother Caetano's "É de Manhã" and "Apelo," "O Que Tinha de Ser," and "Viramundo." The Argentinean musicians here are quite passable as samba players, and the worst in the album is a minor recording problem, as Toquinho's voice seems to be caught only by a far away mike. In all, this is an excellent album.
