About the Artist Coming out of Long Beach California, Crooked I originally got his break appearing on compilations with Big C-Style s label, 19th Street Records. He also appeared on movie soundtracks, such as Ride and Caught Up, collaborating with such artists as Snoop Doggy Dogg, Tha Eastsidaz and The Luniz. Crooked I was later signed to Death Row Records, where he appeared on a number of compilations such as Too Gansta For Radio, and Dysfunktional family. He also appeared on various other releases such as Tha Dogg Pound s 2002, Ja Rule s The Last Temptation and Tupac s Nu Mixx Klazzics. Crooked I left Death Row in 2004 to start his own label, Dynasty Entertainment, where he created a buzz for himself with the track Boom Boom Clap in the summer of 2005. The video posted on youtube received over 374,000 hits. In 2006 he released his heavily anticipated mixtape, Young Boss Vol.2. By 2007 Crooked I had started a Hip Hop Weekly series via the internet. Every 7 days he released a new track over various hip hop beats of old and new instrumentals. The success of this move increased his already loyal and dedicated fan base, who in October of 2007 bombarded XXL s website to vote Crooked I as the MC with the best shot of taking over the game. This landed him on the cover of the November 2007 issue of XXL. In 2009 Crooked I joined forces with MC s Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden, and Royce Da 5 9 to create the super group Slaughterhouse. Up until now Crooked I has yet to release a solo project. Hood Star is Crooked I s first solo release!!!
