[00:00.00]90听音乐网 www.90T8.com  [00:01.09]I was doing jazz gigs in town [00:03.33]And then I would had started a band [00:05.13]With Jesse Harris and Lee Alexander [00:07.48]I was playing bass [00:08.88]He played bass with me do my jazz gig [00:10.68]That's how I met him [00:11.65]And then Jesse is a songwriter [00:13.49]And play the acoustic guitar [00:14.78]And he was an old friend [00:15.87]I started singing Jessie songs [00:17.31]And then we started writing songs out of nowhere beautiful songs [00:20.96]And then I started writing songs here and there and [00:23.42]So [00:23.50]At these gigs we will play at the living room [00:25.69]Which is a little songwriter place in New York [00:27.70]Do sort of all of our songs and throw in a couple covers [00:31.77]Maybe it's a standard as well [00:33.46]Was really my first experience sort of [00:35.51]Doing something of my own [00:36.79]Where I was singing that wasn't straight of jazzi [00:39.95]It was right around that time [00:41.44]That somebody saw me play a jazz gig [00:43.44]Cuz I was doing both things at the time [00:44.99]And brought me a blue note records [00:46.42]And it ended up being kind of funny [00:48.80]Cuz Bruce lundvall that a blue note records [00:50.43]When he heard my demo [00:51.55]I had to just answer is in one song of Jesse's and he said [00:54.80]Well [00:55.24]What do you want to do [00:56.12]You wanna be a jazz singer or not [00:58.26]You know... [00:59.08]Or pop singer [00:59.70]Oh no, jazz singer jazz singer... [01:01.63]Cuz you are in a blue note records [01:02.87]I didn't want him to turn me away [01:04.65]Hehe~ [01:05.39]But then he give somebody to make demos [01:07.17]Cause obviously I was very young and I haven't quite figured out my musical voice and [01:11.27]So he had me do this demos [01:12.75]I figured [01:13.17]Well [01:13.97]We already know what it sounds like playing jazz [01:16.45]It's been done before [01:17.76]Let's try this new thing [01:19.40]So I brought this band I have been playing with [01:22.16]At the time which was Jesse,Lee on bass [01:24.79]And a great drummer named Dan Reeser [01:27.75]Cuz just kind of in town and Jesse had known [01:30.43]And we recorded about 7 or 8 songs [01:33.98]In a couple days [01:35.05]The first song we recorded was "Don't Know Why" [01:37.51]I know it's a song of Jesse's [01:39.75]And it was a total experiment Feast 2 day sessions And the version of "Don't Know Why" [01:44.37]That we got in this demos is the version on my first record [01:46.70]That everybody heard [01:47.48]So it's like the very first moment of us trying this in the studio [01:51.53]It was a live take it was all really quick.
