Richard Beddow
Richard Beddow is an Ivor Novello Award winning composer and sound designer, actively working in the entertainment industry since 1998. Classically trained as a musician, fused with a sound engineering background, Richard not only turns his hand to sound or music projects with fluency but leads audio projects to deliver the bigger picture. Richard's journey into the world of Sound & Music began at an early age inspired and fascinated by the films, TV and video games that dominated the early to mid-1980's. He followed a traditional route in music, completing ABRSM and Guildhall music exams leading on to completing a Degree in Music at Kingston University, London England. Receiving a classical schooling in both composition and sound engineering, no sooner was his education complete Richard began working as a professional sound designer and composer for highly respected video game developer Criterion Studios in Guildford UK, where he remained for a number of years cutting his teeth on his first Dreamcast and PC projects. Richard firmly established himself as a solid sound designer and composer working across numerous areas of the industry including Film, Production Music, TV and Video Games during which time he's had the pleasure of working on projects for huge industry names such as BMG / Universal, Namco, Sega and the BBC. To date, his material can be heard on numerous video games, TV, radio and film productions. Richard's high production values and audio direction have helped him push boundaries and deliver compelling content for a range of productions including recent titles such as Viking: Battle For Asgard, Empire: Total War and Napoleon: Total War. The ground breaking Empire:Total War not only won a BAFTA in 2010 but was also nominated for the 2009 Develop Audio Accomplishment Award. These projects saw Richard regularly working with 80 piece orchestras, choirs and collaborating with orchestrator Nic Raine with leading European orchestras such as the Prague Philharmonic and Slovak National Orchestra. In 2010 Richard was nominated for the 55th Ivor Novello Awards for the soundtrack to Empire: Total War. In 2011 Richard was again nominated in the 56th Ivor Novello awards, but this time won the Best Video Game Soundtrack award for Napoleon Total War.
