The CO
At very young ages, Collin Brace and Troy Akers fell in love with the craft of writing a song. But in two separate places. Until the Fall of 2004, Brace and Akers lived in different towns, learning what it meant to bring a song to life on the guitar and piano, respectively. Little did they know, when they met in Nashville at a local university, that their two passions would collide to create a band what is known today as The CO. Staying up late writing songs about heart beliefs and first loves lit a spark that blossomed and led them to become a stellar duo of penmanship in melody and music. Founding a band was neither difficult nor up for question when Collin brought the idea to Troy. Each found their closest friends to take the rolls of lead guitarist, bassist and drummer. Although nothing seemed to stick, in the Summer of 2007, a friendship was started with fellow peer, Nate Fleming, a respected drummer, throughout the young Nashville community. The three stuck together and continued an active roll in the music circuit of Nashville and embarked on a vast tour that took them from as far north as Chicago and south to Florida. Upon graduating, the three put teeth to the ground and amped up their reality to make it to a world stage that they believed their songs deserved to be heard from. The CO is a sound that is new to Nashville, in a sense that it is not brimming from a whiskey glass of honky tonk banter. It is what Brace and Akers refer to as a new term...the "Nashville Sound". Uncompromising on lyrical content, The CO is pushing to the forefront the idea that within Nashville is a fire burning up of a genre that is bigger than the city limits. "We see our music reaching out across state lines, in countries across the world...that's why we say this music is on a global stage...because it's about something that everyone feels, and we look to show that, and sing that with every ounce of us when we perform. We feel it every time we sit down with a melody haunting our thoughts", says Akers. The CO is: Collin Brace (Lead Vox) / Troy Akers (Keys & Vox) / Nate Fleming (Drums) / Will Harrison (Guitar) / Jordan Hester (Bass). They are managed by Scott Siman of RPM out of Nashville.
