Atlas Bound

Genre: Soul Electronica   Sydney-based electronic duo Atlas Bound are newly formed but enthusiasm is already high for their signature jazz-infused music, which draws comparisons to their compatriot and fellow electronica musician Chet Faker.   Who? Adrian Kalcic and Will Taylor are an electronic producer and a soul-funk singer-songwriter in their early 20s from Sydney's Northern Beaches. They put out debut single "Lock" in June and have followed up with a handful of tracks, including a cover of Chet Faker's "I'm Into You" and the just-released "Talk." They cite Nat King Cole and Etta James as influences.   Why the buzz? The duo create downtempo, experimental electro-soul with a hybrid sound that ties in jazzy vocals and often minimalist production.   Hillydilly noted "their juxtaposition of idiosyncrasy and listenability" and Noisey wrote, "The Down Under duo mix gorgeous, jazz-infused synths with sultry, raspy vocals, making comparisons to Chet Faker, Flume, and Glass Animals easy to reach for."   Reviewing latest track "Talk," The Music Ninja wrote, "The duo manages to create a sound so hypnotizing it's almost therapeutic," while Indie Shuffle praised their "deep, emotive vocals, with lush electronic production sliding in behind -- a formula they have down pat."   What to listen to?
