Scarlette Fever

Scarlette Fever

Scarlette Fever (born Karen Louise Barrow in Hertfordshire 1981) is an English singer-songwriter. Music career: Debut single Crash and Burn was co-written by Scarlette Fever and Metrophonic, mixed by Cenzo Townshend (Snow Patrol) and produced by Julian Emery (Lissie). Crash and Burn has received high rotation on BBC Radio 2’s B-List and the Jason Nevins remix reached number 2 in the Music Week Commercial Pop Club Chart as well as the top ten of the Billboard (magazine) Breakout Club Charts in the USA. The singles have also been favourably reviewed by titles like Gay Times, Mizz, Bliss, Sugar (magazine), Daily Mirror and the Daily Star (United Kingdom). Black and White, (which was released May 1, 2011) was co-written by Alex Smith from Metrophonic (James Morrison (singer)) and mixed by Cenzo Townshend. Other output includes You Don't Know My Name, co-written with Grant Black and featuring a sample from the John Barry (composer) Midnight Cowboy soundtrack. Barry also allowed Scarlette the use of Give Me A Smile, an instrumental from his 1999 album, The Beyondness Of Things, complete with lyrics by Don Black (lyricist). On September 18 2011, Scarlette released her third single, Elated, also produced by Julian Emery. The song has been featured as Song of the Day on Popjustice and spent time on the B playlist at Radio 2. Scarlette has supported Girls Aloud, Simon Webbe and Roachford, and performed at official Gay Pride events across the UK. Scarlette Fever supported Mike + The Mechanics on their UK tour, which started in May 2011. Playing 22 shows across the country, the Hit The Road Tour 2011 saw the band perform at the Royal Albert Hall on 5 May 2011. Scarlette released her EP, The Great Expectations in spring 2012, debuting a new, rawer sound. Lead track Hour Of Sunshine, co-written with and produced by Julian Emery, is on the EP in two versions: the first is remixed by Cenzo Townshend and complemented by a second, addictive new live mix produced by Steve Lironi (Bon Jovi). The EP also comes with fresh interpretations by Ash Howes (Texas (band)) of live favourites Cheatin’ Man and Good Day, both of which were co-written with Andy Wright (Imelda May). Since premiering on NME.com, Scarlette’s last video Hour of Sunshine, produced by Dani Jacobs (Moby, Phil Collins, Texas) has received over 200,000 views on YouTube. This spring, Scarlette made her first trip to the States, to perform two exclusive gigs at Musexpo and the Worldwide Radio Summit, both in Los Angeles. “It was my first jaunt across the pond,” says Scarlette. "Katy Perry, Jessie J, Dido (singer) and Adele (singer) have performed over the last few years. This year Caro Emerald who we supported at Love Live Music for Smooth Radio at Christmas appeared too.” Scarlette Fever has appeared recently for a second time with Smooth Radio this summer at their event in Liverpool Docks. Scarlette Fever has been busy writing and producing new material and is headed stateside again this summer for further creative partnerships and promotion for US TV networks finishing with a show at the legendary Viper Room in Los Angeles. Praying for Change (Just Another Day) recently heard on Good Morning Sunday on BBC Radio 2 and will be released in the fall in conjunction with a UK tour as special guest to Sandi Thom. The single, Praying for Change (Just Another Day) is another collaboration with Metrophonic and is a hugely melodic standout ballad with haunting lyrics in the Elated mould. It’s set to be the lead track on an EP featuring the live versions of Cheatin’ Man, Single White Female and Looking Glass, from the Steve Lironi live sessions which haven’t yet been released.
