Moscow Symphony Orchestra

Moscow Symphony Orchestra

THE MOSCOW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA was founded in 1989 at the Stas Namin Centre. With Stas Namin as a producer and Konstantin Krimets as a conductor, this new orchestra was made up of over 80 first-class musicians, graduates of the Moscow, St.-Petersburg and Kiev conservatories among them. Many musicians have received invaluable experience working with Eugeny Svetlanov, Gennady Rozhdestvensky, and Eugeny Mravinsky. No other orchestra has as many winners of Russian National and International music competitions.   Through its career the MSO performed in the most prestigious halls of Moscow and abroad, participated in the National and International Festivals (Moscow - 1990, 1991; Belgrade - 1993; Finland, Spain – 1993; Sochi, "Kinotavr" festival - 1997, 98, 99; Hong Kong, Taiwan, - 1997, 98), gave triumphant performances in the musical festivals "Moscow autumn - 12" and "Our Heritage", and toured Finland, Spain, Great Britain, Malta, China and other countries with great success.   In 1995-96, the MSO worked with the famous Austrian composer Roland Baumgartner. Some of their works included the “Globalis” symphony that was recorded and performed at the opening of Broukner Festival in Lince, Austria, in 1996 and “Messa Passis" devoted to the 2000 Anniversary of Christianity.   In 2001 Maestro Ogan Durjan’narc was invited as the head conductor of the MOSCOW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA, and he rushed to work immediately. Soon the series of 4 concerts (Berlioz, Brahms, Ravel, and Debussy) was ready and successfully performed at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory and Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in February and March, 2002.   A series of charity concerts to commemorate the victims of international terrorism were held by the MSO. The most remarkable were the ones at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory on September 8, 2002 and at the International Performing Arts Center on September 12, 2005.   The MOSCOW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA is known throughout the world for making recordings of the highest quality. Many modern composers - Schnittke, Gubaidulina, Eshpai, Rosenblat, Pavlova - entrusted the Orchestra to debut their music.   During the period of 1997-99 the MSO recorded more than 80 CD’s with the soundtracks for films, cartoons, and computer games made in Japan, USA, China, Austria, and England. Together with the British company "CROMWELL PRODUCTION", the Orchestra created a soundtrack for "Music Maestro", a 12-part series of TV movies which features music by Bach, Hendel, Vivaldi, Mozart, Grieg, and Dvorak. In cooperation with the Japanese company "TOI MUSIC PRODUCTION", the MSO recorded "Four Seasons" by Tchaikovsky and "Russian Waltzes" by Glinka, Glazunov, Tchaikovsky, Dunaevsky.   In 2000 the Orchestra recorded Al DiMiola and "The Anthologies of Russian Ballets" including complete ballet scores by the Russian composers among them.   In 2005 – the soundtrack for the feature film “Shadowless Sword” by Kim Young-jun (South Korea);   In 2006 – the soundtrack for the feature film “A Night with the King” by Michael O. Sajbel (USA).   The idea to present the orchestra in a non-traditional way first came to its producer Stas Namin in 1990. He decided to make the Orchestra perform with the full rock production – powerful PA system, lights, pyrotechnics and other visual effects. A new repertoire was arranged for the MOSCOW SYMPHONY ROCKS (MSR), the new name for such an unusual symphony show. Along with the classical hits (like THE YEAR OF 1812. OVERTURE by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, SABRE DANCE by Aram Khachaturyan and POMP AND CIRCUMSTANCE MARCH by Edward Elgar) it includes the symphony variations of PURPLE HAZE by Jimmy Hendrix, PAINT IT BLACK by Rolling Stones, famous hits of Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, Doors and other rock legends.   The first performances of THE MOSCOW SYMPHONY ROCKS were organized in 1990, followed by the 1991 tour around Great Britain with “Electric Light Orchestra – Part II”, which started at Wembley Arena, London. The video recording of this tour hit the British top rock charts.   Since 1991 THE MOSCOW SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA concentrated mostly on developing the classical trend in its work. It started touring the world as MOSCOW SYMPHONY ROCKS again in June 2006 in Haidian Park, Beijing, with the audience of 30,000. After that MSR was presented to the 50,000 audience at the performance on the City Hall Plaza of Seoul in September, 2006.   The first album of THE MOSCOW SYMPHONY ROCKS was recorded at the Grand Hall of Moscow Conservatory in September 2006.   (官网资料)
