Dana
Growing up in a family of music-lovers, DANA very quickly picked up an unmatched passion for music. Taking a vocal music major throughout high school, she performed at various venues as part of a choir and got her first taste of live performance at 14. She then started working on original songs and began recording them at her brother’s home studio. After showing these very first works to friends, the undying urge to create and explore the bounds of her musical capabilities could not be silenced. After graduating high school and dabbling with various producers and musicians within her realm, DANA began to refine her music knowledge by delving into classic 40s- and 50s-era jazz and cinema. Drawing on this growing infatuation and true sense of belonging, DANA aims to revive that classic beauty through her music while also exercising her freedom as a woman of the millennium to be honest about heartache, pain, and loneliness in love. While exploring her alto vocal range and vibrato technique, jazz, soul, and DANA simply came to be as one. DANA has performed at various night clubs and charity events, mainly in the Toronto and New York music scenes. She opened for The Trews in 2010 and was featured on Entertainment Tonight thereafter. Using her affinity for cinematography, DANA took some time to travel the US and Europe to capture moments and study new inspirations.
