Tall Boys
The Tall Boys were formed in London in 1983 by Nigel Lewis and Mark Robertson, both founder members of the Meteors. Their first recording line-up included Jez Alan on guitar, later on Kevin Green was added on bass. The band recorded a mini album (Wednesday Addams’ Boyfriend) and a number of singles (Final Kick and Brand New Gun) for Big Beat records. Other tracks feature on the “Four on 4” EP (Ride this Torpedo) “Beach Party” LP (Dragster) and Stomping at Klub Foot (Ride this Torpedo, Action Woman and Funtime). The band also had a song featured in the movie “Return of the Living Dead” (Take a Walk). Live shows were performed all over the UK and France, and the Tall Boys appeared on Channel 4’s “Trash on the Tube” programme. They split in 1987, and reformed briefly in 1996 and 1997 for shows in the UK, Germany and Finland. Since then Nigel has been flying the flag with an impressive number of recordings and live shows with both the Zorchmen and the Johnson Family. During the Zorchmen shows Nigel has been including a number of Tall Boys classics, which have gone down a storm. Retrospective albums – Funtime and the recently released Live at Klub Foot have also given fans of the band something to be going on with, but despite rumours there have been no live shows. Finally Jez and Mark have decided to come out of retirement and the Belgian bass maestro Jens de Waele (50ft Combo & Grave Brothers) will be replacing Kevin Green. The band rocked at their first reunion in Antwerp in November 2011 and have since played shows in Germany, Spain and France. A new album will be recorded in 2013 and the band have a number of shows booked at the Bedlam and Psychomania festivals, the Strasbourg Tattoo Festival and the famous Chez Paulette near Toul (France).
