Dr Syntax
Hailing from the lush countryside of north Oxfordshire, some might say Dr Syntax is an unlikely hip hop artist. However, this hasn’t stopped him from becoming a familiar face in the British hip hop scene, renowned for his wit, originality and unmistakable baritone vocals. Having cut his teeth as part of oddball Brighton rap group The Menagerie (alongside Professor Elemental, Tom Caruana and Nick Maxwell), he gained exposure as a frequent guest of the Foreign Beggars, appearing on their first three albums and at countless live shows. Since then he has released five albums – ‘Self Taught’, ‘Benny Huge’, ‘Scene Stealers’ (with Skrein, collectively known as ‘Skreintax’), 'A Slice Of Fried Gold' (with Tom Caruana) and ‘Killer Combo!’ (with Pete Cannon) - and collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Del The Funky Homosapien, High Focus and Rizzle Kicks. In recent years, he has been gaining a whole new level of exposure as front man for acclaimed Manchester hip hop band The Mouse Outfit. Their debut album 'Escape Music' was released in May 2013 to widespread acclaim, even featuring in US news network ABC’s ‘Best albums of 2013’ list. He continues to tour extensively both with the Mouse Outfit, and as a duo with producer Pete Cannon.
