Stevie Mink
Melbourne has always lusted over artists that ooze a beautiful musical intelligence. Stevie Mink generates exactly that and more. Holding his own as a profound yet humbled house producer and DJ, Mink has lifted the standard in Australia and across the dance music terrain, championing a vocal, electro and progressive house racket! From a bright young spark Stevie found sincere enjoyment but a creative thrill from collecting vinyl from many an era together with online synth tutorials to feed a nation of hungry artists. Preaching a love of dance music Stevie Mink went from cultivating mash-ups and home brewed bootlegs until the day came where the original track and dignified remixes edged the buzz they well and truly deserved. 2010 saw the remix of T-Rek’s bomb ‘Out My *****’ soaring to the top 40 Beatport Electro chart while Devil’s clap shone with a 14th place win. It was a short time later where Pete Tong nudged this talent dropping ‘Forever’ on his pioneering Radio 1 show and almost three years on the labels are pining for the Mink taste, clutching on with tracks signed to CR2, Onelove and Boo Records. It was ‘Everyday’ on CR2 that also took charge on the charts while ‘Now Drop’ shook up a recent Onelove compilation. Regularly a charm with fellow artists, 2012 has seen a rise in the collaborative front with an epic partnership in Katt Nial where the likes of CR2 have preached nothing but the best on their masterpieces together. Taking a true inspiration from dance music’s hero’s Deadmau5, Axwell, Eric Prydz and local genius Dirty South, Stevie Mink has driven the musical mind in top gear as a soul producer before now an acclaimed DJ. While the globe takes a listen, Stevie Mink takes the inaugural stage cake, walloping a huge array of bill spots from his residencies at Tramp and Wah Wah while Australia’s hottest festivals Stereosonic, Future Music Festival and Creamfields too want a piece. Supporting artists from TJR to Nadastrom and Laidback Luke, lineups all over the city light up with his name on the run. The roads are lined with opportunities for Melbourne’s hero, standing tall on the anticipated release of his newly mixed compilation for Vicious Cuts 2013 while the console screams for more Stevie Mink attention.
