Vogtland Philharmonie
Founded in 1992, the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra Greiz/Reichenbach is a result of the successful merger of the National Vogtland Orchestra Reichenbach and the National Symphonic Orchestra Greiz. The formed orchestra of 65 musicians further creates a connection between the States of Thuringia and Saxony. With approximately 140 concerts per year, the Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra Greiz/Reichenbach performs at full capacity, serving not only the stages of its two hometowns but numerous other towns of the Vogtland region as well. As "Musical Ambassadors of the Region", the orchestra undertakes concert tours across Germany, as well as guest performances in Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Denmark, France, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, Cyprus, the USA, and China over the course of the last ten years. The Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra also took part in several festivals such as the "International Accordion Competition" in Klingenthal, the "International Intrumental Competition" in Markneukirchen, "Ars et Musica" in Switzerland, the "Festival Central Europe" and the "Prague Festival" in the Czech Republic. The Vogtland Philharmonic Orchestra has recorded and published numerous CDs and appears on radio as well as on television, which is proof of the high quality and standards of the young orchestra.
