Thara
Thara is a unique beauty with supreme undeniable talents. She moves between the worlds of Music, Acting, Modeling and Dance with the absolute greatest of ease. In all honesty, there is little that Thara cannot do. While she can easily opt to get by with her stunning God-given looks alone, she prefers sticking to a tremendous work ethic to accomplish goals and allow her talents to fully shine. Thara has recently asked for and received her release from Desert Storm, however what follows is a brief history of what she accomplished while signed to them and afterwards. Since signing with the world famous DJ Clue and his record label "Desert Storm" in 2004, Thara's singing career has been in full-flight. Her single, “You Want It" exploded out of the mix tape circuit and onto national radio, becoming a mainstay on Hot 97's radio rotation and peaking as high as 23 on their playlist in the summer of 2004. Like a brush fire, other stations around the country promptly took heed and "You Want It" began receiving solid rotation on over 60 stations nationwide. In June and July of 2004, "You Want It" also became one of the most downloaded songs in the country, enabling Thara to get heavily booked all year in clubs and festivals around the country. While Thara's buzz worthy mix tape single was growing organically from the streets to radio and all over the Internet, she was collaborating with her multi-platinum selling label-mate, Fabolous. Thara is featured on a Scott Storch produced track called, "Ghetto," off of Fab's current, "Real Talk" album, which went on to sell more than 800,000 units world wide. While "Ghetto" received heavy airplay, the track was most recently licensed to the Sony Playstation 2 game, "Midnight Club 3" as one of its featured songs. Soon after the release of Fab's "Real Talk," Thara released her next street single "Shake It." The single took off quickly, hitting radio in the UK, Belgium, Sweden, Australia, and here at home in the US. While "You Want It" gave Thara a national spotlight, "Shake It" exposed Thara to the world. In April of 2005, Thara was invited to perform at the globally viewed Bollywood awards. The ceremony was viewed by 200 Million people world wide, and is still being televised globally on a weekly basis. Following her alluring performance at the Awards, a feverish media spectacle erupted. Thara did over 30 television and radio interviews, as well as featured requests in many major magazines around the world. Thara is half Indian and the unbelievable support and love that spawned from the 23 million South Asians living in the United States and the hundreds of Millions around the world, was nothing short of astounding. Her website recorded 150,000 hits this past May alone and almost as many in June. Since then it averages over 100,000 hits per month. In March, she was flown to Australia for a two-week tour, the response to her was so good that Thara returned to tour in Australia again, in August. This time doing TRL and television promotionals for her newest single, "Shake It" and a featured performance on Sony/BMG recording artist Israel's single, "Work Da Middle pt 2." This song was recently nominated for best Urban song and video in the Australia Urban Awards. Thara's album is a big POP/R&B project which already boasts heavyweights like John Legend, Fabolous, Fat Man Scoop, and co-writes with Makeba, Lil Eddie, Shamora Crawford and Teron Biel and her production team, The Orange Factory. Her musical direction extends far beyond the urban zone with her appeal reaching Asia and India as well as the UK and European markets. Thara's writing skills have been much heralded by these writers who have since requested her on co-writes for other artists as well. As far as the print and commercial front, Thara recently appeared in an MTV American Eagle commercial and you can also see her in a national print campaign for "Finishline," as well as Verizon and Curves Fragrance. Her acting career is also heating up with regular "under five" roles on Soaps such as, "One life to live" (as Carie) and "Guiding Light," (as Summer). You may have seen her in the Spike Lee pilot, "Miracle's Boys," and you can look for her in the upcoming Rishi Kapoor Bollywood crossover film, "Sambar Salsa." In addition, Thara has the title song for the soundtrack of "Sambar Salsa." She is also currently featured as Sean Paul's leading lady in his new video for "Ever Blazin'." Thara also most recently, shot a for TV pilot, "Alphabet City," written by hit producer, "Fanatic."(Beyonce, Mary J. Blige) Thara has also appeared as a VJ on north America's premier Asian Variety show, AVS. This show features the newest Indian movies and music and is viewed weekly by 72 million people across the Globe. Her face is already something of a household name amongst the young 14 to 22 year old south Asian demographic World Wide and in March and April, Thara will be the cover story for the two leading South Asian lifestyle magazines in North America. "Anokhi" and "I-Style." In addition, Thara just did a shoot for New Yorks "hot urban lifestyle mag of the moment" "Mass Apeal." Thara has most recently appeared on MTV DESI for her first appearance as a guest and you can also see her in a 4 page spread in the January '07 issue of "The World's Biggest Asian Woman's Magazine," "ASIAN WOMAN." Able to adapt to any platform with smooth transitioning, Thara is quite simply a marketing dream. Her incredible beauty is only enhanced by her willingness and dedication to work harder than anyone else. She's an outright perfectionist.
