Café Zimmermann
Café Zimmermann is a French classical music ensemble founded in 1998 by the violinist Pablo Valetti and the harpsichordist Céline Frisch. It is named after the original Zimmermannsches Kaffeehaus in Leipzig, of Gottfried Zimmermann . The ensemble has recorded several chamber works of Bach for the Alpha (record label) .The ensemble is resident at the fr:Grand Théâtre de Provence in Aix-en-Provence . Since its creation in 1999, Café Zimmermann is in the forefront of baroque concert in France and the rest of Europe. Led by harpsichordist Céline Frisch and violinist Pablo Valetti, the ensemble gathers soloists who strive to revive the artistic emulation conveyed by Gottfried Zimmermannns foundation in XVIIIth century Leipzig. Café Zimmermann collaborated with artists such as Gustav Leonhardt, Sophie Karthäuser, Roberta Invernizzi, Dominique Visse, as well as the choirs Les Elements and Accentus. Currently in residence at the Grand Theatre de Provence, Café Zimmermann performs in some of the worlds most renowned concert halls and international festivals – Cité de la Musique, the Innsbruck Festival, the Bach Festival in Leipzig, Salle Gaveau, Théâtre de la Ville, the Congress Library in Washington – whilst striving to promote 18th century music to a larger audience, by inventive education programmes. Café Zimmermann frequently performs during international tours, in the United States, Japan, China and South America. Café Zimmermanns album recordings stir true enthusiasm, notably its contrasted and spirited interpretations of J.S. Bachs instrumental works, which was awarded the Gold Diapason of the year award in 2011. In 2013, Café Zimmermann record A. Vivaldis Estro Armonico for Alpha Productions.
