KaitO
by MacKenzie Wilson English darlings KaitO comprise a fun, electronic spunk similar to the likes of Bis and Kenickie. Hailing from Norwich, England, KaitO's Nikki Colk (vocals/guitar), Gemma Cullingford (bass), Dave Lake (guitar), and Dieta Quantrill (drums) were a quick fit to England's underground indie scene. After making a name for themselves over a five-year period and issuing several cult singles, KaitO inked a European deal with Fierce Panda and an American contract with Devil in the Woods in 2001. You've Seen Us... You Must Have Seen Us marked KaitO's proper full-length debut later that summer and gained massive praise in their homeland almost immediately. First single "Cat-Nap" was a mainstay on Steve Lamacq's Evening Session on the BBC as well as the U.K.'s XFM radio while British mags such as Uncut, Sleazenation, and Mojo jumped on board to celebrate KaitO's playful punk sound. Tours with Clinic, the Datsuns, Seafood, and Imperial Teen followed in 2002, coinciding the summer release of the Montigola Underground EP. In early 2003, KaitO left Devil in the Woods for SpinART. Band Red appeared in May.
