Nitish Kulkarni
Nitish Kulkarni is a rising artist in the instrumental scene and has been called the next Yanni by hundreds of people who have heard his early work. Nitish has been involved with music ever since he was a child. As early as four years old he was already starting to play the tabla (Indian hand drums) and started learning formally at ten. Over the years Nitish has picked up the clarinet, harmonium, piano, and various other percussion instruments, and has been performing locally and nationwide since 2005. In 2010 he was selected as one of two drum majors for his high school marching band and led the band to win the USSBA State Championship. Nitish believes in breaking language barriers and speaking to people directly—without words—through the universal language: music. Since 2011 he has been creating music in his unique contemporary instrumental style, using instruments and sounds from all around the world. During his time in college Nitish has served as a campus representative for Spotify, worked as an intern at the prestigious Rock Paper Scissors world music publicity firm, and created his own radio show at WIUX, Indiana University's Pure Student Radio. In 2014 Nitish was signed to EverSound Music and spent the summer creating his debut album SYNESTHETIC. Produced by award-winning composer John Adorney, the album features sounds from over 50 different musical instruments, both electronic and acoustic. SYNESTHETIC scored 98/100 on New Age Music Odyssey and won the website's award for Best New Age music album of 2014. The record is now available worldwide. A resident of Houston, Texas, Nitish currently attends Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. He has designed his own major in the field of musical instruments and plans to continue composing and performing after college.
